Beyoncé Celebrates Honorary Mayorship of Santa Clara

Beyoncé expressed her gratitude and excitement after being named honorary mayor of Santa Clara, California, on Wednesday. The singer was given the title for a day in honor of her upcoming concert at Levi’s Stadium in the city.

“Today is special,” Beyoncé said during her concert. “I’m so excited to be on stage. Y’alls faces are so beautiful. You know today’s special because today… I am the mayor.”

Beyoncé is no stranger to Santa Clara. She has performed at Levi’s Stadium several times, including during her 2016 Formation World Tour. The city has also been a major supporter of her career, hosting her Super Bowl halftime show in 2013.

In a statement, Santa Clara Mayor Lisa Gillmor said that Beyoncé was “a perfect fit” for the honorary mayor title. “She is a global icon who has used her platform to promote equality and social justice,” Gillmor said. “She is also a proud mother and wife, and we are honored to have her as a part of our community.”

Beyoncé’s honorary mayorship is just the latest in a long line of accolades for the singer. She has won 28 Grammy Awards, more than any other female artist. She has also been honored with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian award in the United States.

Beyoncé is sure to continue to make her mark on the world, both as a musician and as a humanitarian. Her honorary mayorship of Santa Clara is a testament to her impact on the city and the world.
